What you will do:
Drive by car 35 km to the small town Pavlovsk. It is the youngest of the grand Imperial estates around St Petersburg. It was named in honor of Tsar Paul the first. You visit fine neo-classical palace and its extensive landscaped gardens that are 607 hectares — of land around the Slavyanskaya River. Enjoy visiting the palace that achieved such a harmonious façade due to the design of the Great Charles Cameron, the Scottish-born architect who built it. Construction began in 1782. Later Vincenzo Brenna extended the palace and created a more imposing and regal building. He combined the Tsar’s eclectic tastes into an organic and harmonious architectural solution. Stroll in the English style park. It is the harmony of the groves and woods, the smooth curves and outlines of the avenues and ponds, the interlacing well-balanced open and closed spaces, the seventeen pavilions, twelve bridges across the Slavianka and numerous ponds clustered into three systems — all this combined with refined Palladian structures and exquisite marble, bronze, iron and stone statuary makes the park a highly poetic and perfect piece of work of masters of the late 18th — early 19th centuries. Conciliated you come back to the city by car.
